As we decided to have burritos for dinner, we all went together to do groceries and get the ingredients needed, after that Jumpei and I worked on the door and Yuki-san made us okonomiyaki for lunch.
Because it was Ronny’s birthday, after eating burritos, we had some delicious mikan mochi and we said goodbye to Tanja as she was going to leave in the morning the next day.
February 24, 2025
Today it was everyone’s day off. Me and Ronny decided to explore the area, so we asked Yuki-san to lend us two bikes. At first we went to visit some temples ⛩️ and then after we went around lake Inohana. The area is absolutely stunning, I suggest every volunteer at coco-rin to take the time to do this at least once.
February 25, 2025
In the morning we cleaned the guest house as it was going to be needed in the upcoming days. After that we went back to coco-rin and I worked on the door handle: Yuki-san had the great idea of using a metal plastering float as a handle, it gave a cool coco-rin vibe to the door!
For lunch I finally managed to try the burger that is on the menu (😋 oishii) and for dinner we had unagi (😍 totemo oishii) just before Ronny left.
February 26, 2025
Jumpei and I started to work on the garden at the entrance of the parking lot. There is a bit of space that Yuki-san wants to transform into a garden with some fruits or veggies. The first step was to remove all the weeds, rocks and then outline the exact area we wanted to work with.
We also decided that we wanted to do something with bamboo and integrate this in the garden as there is such a huge bamboo forest just behind the house. If any volunteer has to do some DIY project, consider using it, it’s such a great material.
In the evening Jumpei cooked a very Japanese traditional hotpot dish (nabe).
February 27, 2025
The work on the mini garden continued, this time it was mostly about digging and chopping down bamboo trees 💪. 
Yuki-san had to leave for few days unfortunately, but that didn’t stop Jumpei and me to have some nice dinner: we had some 🇪🇸 Spanish tortilla and 🇯🇵Japanese Yakisoba.

I put myself into deep website development mode, as I wanted to show some progress for when Yuki-san would have returned. The day went really fast, as it always happens when working on my laptop. In the evening we decided to fire up the projector and watch an all time Ghibli classic: Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し). I always enjoy watching that movie!
